CLOSER LOOK
Getting older is inevitable, but there is no rule that says as we age we must “grow up”. With my Sustained Investigation (SI) I wanted to remind people of how they used to see the world. When you are small everything, in relation, feels big and immense, as though anything is possible because no one has yet told you there limitations. I explore both mine and my parents’ transitions from adolescence to adulthood; how we have sacrificed parts of ourselves in favor of conforming to social norms. In many way they are the same complicated children, as am I. We never lose our child selves, we only build upon them.
